Benefits of Contact Lenses and Eyeglasses

Improved Vision

With the right prescription, you’ll see more clearly up close and far away, enhancing daily comfort and confidence.

Convenience

Contacts eliminate the need to adjust glasses throughout the day, while glasses are easy to remove and maintain.

Comfort

Modern lenses and frame materials ensure maximum comfort. Our contact lenses are designed to feel natural and irritation-free when worn as directed.

Am I a Candidate?

During a comprehensive eye exam, our doctors will determine whether contact lenses, eyeglasses, or a combination of both best suit your needs.

We offer a range of contact lens types, including:

  • Daily wear and disposable
  • Multifocal
  • Astigmatism-specific lenses

For those not ready for contacts, prescription glasses are an excellent alternative — affordable, durable, and protective against environmental elements. Many patients choose both for flexibility in different situations.

How to Get Your New Lenses

During your visit, our optical team will guide you through selecting the right lenses, frames, and fits for your needs and budget.

We also provide comprehensive contact lens training for first-time wearers — ensuring you feel confident putting them in, removing them, and caring for them properly.

What to Expect After Your Visit

If you select glasses, no follow-up is needed once your prescription is filled.

For contact lens patients, we recommend a follow-up visit after about six weeks to confirm comfort and vision clarity.

Please remember: follow-up visits for lenses are not full eye exams. Comprehensive eye exams should be scheduled at least every two years to monitor eye health and update prescriptions.

Contact lenses and eyeglasses FAQs

Contact lenses are considered generally safe for most people. But as with any kind of medical device, there are some risks. These risks are greatly minimized by following the instructions of your eye care professional and taking proper care of your lenses. OAV will provide more detailed instructions on how to use and care for contacts safely.

It depends on how often your prescription changes and whether you experience any wear and tear on your frames. Patients are encouraged to see a vision care professional regularly for an eye exam and to check the fit of their glasses. Depending on your individual situation, you may need to get new frames every 1-2 years.

There are a number of vision correction options available to improve your vision without contact lenses or glasses. OAV may recommend an option like LASIK surgery depending on your individual needs and goals. Our team can review your many options during your next visit. We work with you to select the best possible solutions.
